No7 Men Energising Moisturiser

Last weekend I had a rather detailed conversation with some of my 60 year old family friends about men’s health and dry skin. So what better than to this weekend receive a gift from my family as a continuation of the conversation and birthday present joke in the shape of No7 Men Energising Moisturiser.

No7 Men Energising Moisturiser

I moisturise my skin most mornings I have quite sensitive skin that is prone to dryness. My morning routine typically involves a long, hot shower followed by standing on Leighton Buzzard station platform for a good 15 minutes or so whilst I wait for my train to pull in. This combination of hot water followed by a cold driving wind really doesn’t do my skin much good so when I’m without a moisturiser in the mornings I really notice the difference with my face feeling extremely tight, especially around my cheeks and forehead.

So what do you get from No7?

First Impression

My first impression of the product is positive with it being premium in appearance with an attractive description stated on the reverse:

“Is your busy lifestyle leaving your skin looking tired and dull? This light, refreshing formula, containing Vitamin C, gives your skin the extra wake-up boost it needs. With antioxidants to help maintain your skin’s natural defences, keeping your skin looking younger and fresh for the day ahead.”

Packaging

The packaging is very masculine looking with a sleek black, glossy finish. This certainly presents itself in a much more premium light when compared to other moisturisers on the market such as Nivea Men Sensitive Moisturiser which is far more plain in appearance.

Over the past decade attitudes towards male health have changed with far more men now taking real pride in their appearance which is an accepted part of everyday life. Despite this, there still remains the need to keep things ‘manly’ however so keeping a product visually appealling to avoid any piss-taking in a men’s changing room is really important. No7 does this well here.

Features

The product offers a number of key features including:

  • 50ml of product
  • UVA/UVB protection (SPF 15)
  • Vitamin C
  • Antioxidants

The full list of ingredients for the product can be seen below:

Moisurising cream

The moisturising cream itself is no different to any other product on the market in that it’s a white cream – no surprises there then! What’s great about the cream however is that it absorbed very quickly into my skin without a long, drawn out application process. It also left no greasy sensation or residue which can often be the case with cheaper brands.

The cream is not strong scented too so once it’s been applied there’s no knowing that it’s there other than the refreshing feeling of stretchy skin on the face without any tightness.

Price

At £8.95 this isn’t the cheapest daily moisturiser however for a more premium product and the No7 brand it’s not unexpected – you know what you’re getting. For the SPF15 protection, antioxidants and vitamin c it’s worth spending the money.

Summary

For a good, everyday use moisturiser I think this is a great product. It offers AVA/UVB sun protection and didn’t leave my skin feeling irritated or greasy like some moisturisers can do. The moisturising effects lasted for quite some time as well so there was no need for regular repeated applications.

Since writing this post, Boots have updated the packaging so it no longer looks like my posted images and instead looks likes the following:

I would highly recommend the moisturiser, you can pick it up on the Boots website here.

Great product, 8/10.
