I recently purchased a new Giant Escape 2 hybrid bike and with that I needed to buy some accessories! Primarily, a front and rear light as I intend to use my bike to commute from my home to the station each day. The shop assistant recommended a light to me so here is my Knog Blinder Road 2 review.
As a guy who is relatively new to cycling having not had a functioning bike for quite some time (my old mountain one has rusted for 6 years in the shed) I wanted to splash out a bit and get some good kit and the Knog light seemed like a good option.
The light features 2 LEDs and offers a number of different beam settings, including an additional option for a high beam which really adds some distance to the road – amazing for such a small, compact light really.
Technical Specifications
- 2 cree LED
- 200 peak lumens
- 3 beam patterns
- High & low beam toggle
- White LED dual beam
- 100% waterproof
- 5hr charge
- 75 grams
- Battery indicator
- LiPo battery technology
What do you get in the box?
I paid about £60 in a local shop for this light but you can pick one up a lot cheaper on Amazon or if you shop around. Once you get past the fact that for a light of this price the box is pretty cheap looking, the items contained inside include the following:
- Front road light unit with integrated USB
- 2x removable mount straps:
- Short: Bars approx 22-28mm
- Long: Bars approx 29-35mm
- USB extension cord
- Helmet mount kit
I’ve taken the light out on my bike just the once but it appears at first impression at least to do a fantastic job of both lighting the way ahead and getting noticed. It also features a great quick release mechanism so is fantastic for my daily commute to avoid the light getting stolen whilst it’s locked up during the day.
I admit, the light is a tad pricey and I did pay over the odds to support a small, independent retailer but I’m hoping that it has been a good, reliable investment!

i’ve got some small white ones by the same brand but they’re a little dull this could make for a cool xmas present from my gf actually. really helpful review.
Hi Matt,
Thanks for the comment – I’ve been using the Knog lights to commute and from the station every day for over 2 months now and I’ve got to say they are fantastic. I’ve had bike lights before but nothing like this – the quick release mechanism is strong and the rubber hasn’t stretched so they still fit on the handlebars as tightly as the day I got them.
The battery life is pretty good too as I only need to charge mine once per week for about half hour despite me using the full beam function most days. They haven’t let me down once, I’m really impressed and can’t recommend them highly enough, I’m sure your girlfriend will love them!
