Deftones Wembley

This was it, the gig which I, along with thousands of others had been looking forward to for a very long time. Due to the tragedy that occurred at the Bataclan in Paris on 13th November the original gig date was cancelled out of respect for the victims of the attack. Finally however, 6 months on, the rescheduled date of 3rd June came around!

The last time I saw Deftones perform was also at The SSE Arena on 19th September 2003 supported by A Perfect Circle (Maynard from Tool was incredible that night incidentally).. a whopping 13 years ago when I was just 17! Returning to Wembley for another Deftones gig with my best mate Allan, as we had done all those years ago, did therefore have a certain sense of familiarity about it.

What I found incredible was that Chiino still had it. Showmanship, crowd interaction, endless screams and solid vocals. In fact the entire band pulled out all of the stops and put on one hell of a show playing all of the hits from years gone by and the best from their latest album, Gore.

Deftones are a band who are yet to disappoint me. Next time they’re back in London I’ll be back on that train from Milton Keynes and heading towards the front row.
