Father’s Day technology gifts
Dads love a good bit of technology even if they don’t understand it really know what’s cool these days. As we get older it’s important to stay in touch with technology as it evolves and so buying some tech for Father’s Day this year is the perfect way to keep him up to date.
Home assistants have been around for a number of years now however they still remain a relatively rare technology accessory across many UK homes. Buying a home assistant for your dad, grandfather or father-in-law this year is a great option to bring him right up to date.
The Amazon Echo is not a new entry on to the market however the guys over at Amazon have spent a lot of time growing the range and evolving the product. You can now opt for a few different options to suit your needs including the Echo Plus, Echo Dot, Echo Spot and Echo Show! If Alexa isn’t quite your thing then Google Home is a great alternative using natural language and linked to Google’s search product to provide answers to any burning questions!
Amazon Echo Dot
The Amazon Echo Dot is the smallest of Amazon’s home assistants. Unlike the Echo and Echo Plus the Echo Dot is a single 1.6″ speaker enabling you to add Echo to any room of the house at an affordable price.
The Amazon Echo is the original voice assistant from Amazon. Bringing Alexa and all of the capabilities of a voice assistant directly into the home via the 2.5″ woofer and 0.6″ tweeter you can play music, make calls, set alarms, ask questions, check your calendar, weather, traffic, control compatible smart home devices.
Amazon Echo Plus
The Amazon Echo Plus offers all of the same features of the Amazon Echo however it also has a built-in Zigbee hub to easily set up and control your compatible smart home devices. With a 3″ woofer and 0.8″ tweeter it also has larger speakers to provide an improved sound for streaming music along with offering an additional line-in.
Amazon Echo Spot
The Amazon Echo Spot is as small as the Echo Dot however it contains a 2.5″ screen to enhance the Echo experience with the additional benefit of video calling. Containing a single 1.4″ speaker the Echo Spot is small enough to be located in a bedroom or on a desk.
Amazon Echo Show
The Amazon Echo Show is the flagship assistant from Amazon offering premium audio via dual 2″ drivers with a passive bass radiator and a 10.1″ HD screen optimised for visibility across the room. The Echo Show is a fantastic Father’s Day Gift that will transform the technology setup within any home.
Amazon Echo Input
The Amazon Echo Input is the perfect gift for someone who already owns a good set of speakers. Via either the 3.5mm jack or through pairing over bluetooth, the Amazon Echo Input can turn any speaker into an Alexa enabled device.
Google Home Mini
The Google Home Mini is the perfect gift for someone who is lacking both a voice assistant and space. With a small diameter the Google Home Mini only contains a single 40mm driver however it packs a punch and can seamlessly blend in to any environment whilst retaining all of the benefits of the Google Home device.
Google Home is a great addition to the house which won’t take up too much room. Although lacking the visual benefits associated of the Home Hub the Google Home device offers all of the same features and benefits at a fraction of the price whilst returning great quality sound via 2″ driver and dual 2″ passive speakers.
Google Nest Hub
The Google Nest Hub is Google’s flagship product with built-in Google Assistant and Chromecast. Linked to all of your smart devices the Nest Hub can control all aspects of your home in addition to answering questions, reading the news, weather, your diary. and being able to display all of your favourite photos via the large 7″ touchscreen display.
Google Home Max
The Google Home Max is all about sound. With dual 4.5″ woofers and dual 0.7″ tweeters the Home Max offers a deep bass and great top end sound quality. Connected via AUX, Wi-fi or Bluetooth the Google Home Max makes a great gift that can suit any room.
Google Chromecast Ultra
The Google Chromecast Ultra is the perfect gift for someone who wants to stream content to your TV in up to 4K Ultra HD and HDR. Simply plugged into your TV’s HDMI port the Chromecast Ultra is the perfect accessory to compliment an iPhone, iPaid, Android device or laptop.
Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K with Alexa Voice Remote
The Amazon Fire TV Stick enables you to stream content in 4K Ultra HD quality. Using the Alexa Voice Remote you are able to launch and stream thousands of channels and apps linked to the Fire TV Stick using just your voice.
Earbuds and Headphones
Father’s Day is the perfect time to buy an audio gift and bring that special person right up to date with the latest in audio technology. Whether it be a new set of earbuds or headphones an audio gift will always be well received.
A great set of earbuds should be a staple piece of technology within any man’s bag allowing for quick and easy listening whilst on the go. This year why not give them a well received technology upgrade for Father’s Day.
Apple AirPods with Wireless Charging
My top earbuds pick for 2021 are the Apple AirPods with wireless charging capabilities. Offering all of the design benefits associated with Apple these earbuds are a must have accessory for any iPhone owner.
ENACFIRE E18 Wireless Earbuds
With over 1500 positive reviews on Amazon the ENACFIRE E18 wireless earbuds are a solid choice this Father’s Day. With bluetooth 5.0 wireless technology, 15 hours of playback time and 3D stereo sound the ENACFIRE E18 earbuds will make the perfect gift.
When it comes to wireless earbuds there are a seemingly endless number of options available! Just be sure not to buy too cheap else you will compromise on both components and sound quality.
There should be little compromise when it comes to sound quality so if you are buying this year for someone who is into their music, a new set of headphones will make the perfect gift for Father’s Day.
Beats Solo3 Wireless Headphones
The Beats Solo3 are wireless on-ear headphones which pack a serious punch of high quality sound with up to 40 hours playback. If you want to buy something this year that combines great style with top end performance from Apple’s W1 chip the Beats Solo3 are the perfect choice.
Sennheiser HD 598SR Over-Ear Headphones
You really can’t go wrong with headphones if you are buying Sennheiser who year after year offer the best in sound quality. The Sennheiser HD 598SR Over-Ear Headphones are top rated headphones that are not only a safe choice for Father’s Day but a choice that will vastly enhance that special person’s audio experience.
My top recommendations for buying the best in sound quality here is to stick to the major brands. Generally speaking you’ll struggle to go wrong with headphones from the likes of Bose and Sennheiser.
Wireless and portable speakers using bluetooth technology are a great gift for Father’s Day as they can be put in a bag and moved from one room to another or taken out of the house to bring the quality of music with you. Wireless speakers will require a power source but offer wireless capabilities whereas bluetooth speakers are a great choice if you looking to buy for someone who will take their speaker out of the house with them.
Sony SRS-XB10 Compact Portable Wireless Speaker
The Sony SRS-XB10 is a fantastic purchase for Father’s Day if you are looking for something portable, compact, modern and affordable. Connected via bluetooth the passive radiator speaker gives a deep bass sound, provides 16 hours of playback, is water resistant and can be paired with a second speaker for stereo sound.
Sonos One (Gen 2) with Amazon Alexa Built-in
If you are looking for something a little more special this Father’s Day then head to Amazon and pick up a second generation Sonos One. The latest Sonos One has Amazon Alexa built-in allowing for full voice control of the device whilst presenting superb sound quality.
When it comes to wireless and bluetooth speakers there is a HUGE selection to choose from. Most of the major brands have multiple products to offer ranging from small portable single speaker units right up to a more premium range product. Just be sure of how the person you are buying for is likely to use the speaker as if wireless you will be relying on a Wi-Fi connection and a power source whereas bluetooth can be transferred around to any location and simply needs charging when the battery fades.
Fitness trackers and wearable tech aren’t going anywhere in 2021 and so they will continue to make a great impact if given as gift for Father’s Day. Sticking to the top brands is usually a safe bet with the likes of Fitbit and Garmin leading the way however if you are looking for something a little more within budget the emergence of Huawei over the past year could be a good choice.
Fitbit Charge 3
The Fitbit Charge 3 is the perfect Father’s Day gift for the man who is looking to keep an eye on his health and motivate himself to do more exercise. It is swimproof and water resistant to 50m, can automatically track various types of workout, has a built-in heart monitor and also monitors sleep quality.
Garmin Forerunner 235 GPS Running Watch
Garmin is one of the best brands on the market if you are looking to buy a running watch for Father’s Day. The Forerunner 235 GPS running watch looks fantastic with a digital display to show workout intensity over time, steps, distance, pace, heart rate and calories burned.
With technology I tend to advise sticking to the mainstream brands, not for vanity’s sake but typically because the brands are tried, tested and regularly reviewed as top performers. Opt for something a little cheaper and you’ll more than likely find yourself or the person the tracker is gifted to, needing to replace/upgrade after 1 year due to cheap components, damage to plastic and redundant technology.
Other electronics ideas for Father’s Day
When it comes to Father’s Day, buying an electronics based gift is one of the safest bets you can make. Every man loves to have the latest technology and so making a purchase this year that brings him fully up to date is going to be very well received. There are of course an enormous range of electronics gifts that you can buy, certainly way more than I would ever have time to include in my 2021 Father’s Day gift guide however if none of the above have quite hit the spot for you, take a look at everything else that Amazon has to offer here.
Funny Father’s Day Gifts
If electronics aren’t your thing this year then you can always opt for a funny Father’s Day gift! Humour, much like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder so make sure you know your dad, father in law, other relative well to ensure the gift is received as you intend! The last thing you want to do this Father’s Day is send the wrong message and accidentally be insulting instead of being humorous! You’ve been warned! This year I’m not even going to attempt to tell you all what’s funny or not so here’s a few suggestions that Amazon has to offer.
Books for Father’s Day
You don’t need to spend a small fortune on Father’s Day and so buying a book for Father’s Day this year is a great choice if you want to get a gift that will both be well received and is extremely affordable. Here are my top 3 picks for Father’s Day 2021.
The Beautiful Poetry of Donald Trump
The Beautiful Poetry of Donald Trump is a hilarious gift that you can buy this Father’s Day. With some of The Donald’s best quotes presented in hardback or for Kindle this satirical look at the world’s most powerful man is a Sunday Times Best Seller and a must purchase gift in 2021.
This Is Going To Hurt
This is going to hurt is the hilarious best selling book from Adam Kay. As a junior doctor Adam came across everything you could possibly imagine and turned his individual experiences into a shared experience via his book. This is going to hurt has been an Amazon best seller for weeks as is truly is something which will leave you laughing out loud. A brilliant gift this Father’s Day!
First Man In: Leading From The Front
Ant Middleton is well known for his Channel 4 TV series Who Dares Wins however before that he was serving within the SAS. Ant’s book is No.1 best seller and offers many stories of his time serving in the forces that will leave you both shocked and in awe of this inspirational leader.
Cheap Father’s Day gifts
Father’s Day doesn’t have to be expensive to make a memorable gesture with the old adage of it’s the thought that counts going a long way. There are plenty of cheap Father’s Day gifts around that aren’t tacky and will be well received. Here are some of my top recommendations for 2021.
20pcs Stainless Steel BBQ Set
Is there a more manly Father’s Day gift than a stainless steel BBQ set? I don’t think there is and with summer looming this will be the perfect present for 2021. I love this 20pcs set from Romanticist who has included everything you could possibly need for a BBQ. A safe, timeless classic for Father’s Day.
Extsud Magnetic Wristband
This must be the most basic item on my Father’s Day gift guide this year however if I had a pound for every time I could have used one of these I would be a very rich man! It is nothing more than a magnetic wrist band but if you’re into DIY, building flatpack furniture or other tasks around the home you’ll never lose a screw again!
Father’s Day photo gifts
Father’s Day is of course all about family and letting your loved ones know what they mean to you and as the saying goes, a picture is worth a thousand words. This Father’s Day make a statement with a photo gift with one of your favourite, most memorable or most meaningful photos.
Personalised Wooden First Fathers Day Photo Frame
A photo gift will of course be personalised but this year make your Father’s Day gift that little bit extra special by personalising the frame. This product from ukgiftstoreonline has a beautiful solid wood frame and allows for you to personalise the bottom line.
Mirrored Fathers Day Photo Frame
Mirrored photo frames remain a top gift for any occasion however this option is presented with a variety of “Dad” words printed on it to add some extra interest.
Personalised Father’s Day gifts
Personalised gifts have become all of the rage in recent years however it is growing increasingly difficult to find something unique and different to be memorable. Here are some of my favourite personalised gifts that you might want to consider for 2019.
Engravity Personalised Wallet Card
This Father’s Day give a personalised message on a credit card sized piece of metal that will sit cosily in his wallet. Choose your own message of up to 40 characters and personalised your Father’s Day message this year.
Personalised Pint Glass
This year wish him a happy Father’s Day with a personalised pint glass. The glass is engraved with up to 4 rows and up to 45 characters per row along with being able to choose from a number of different fonts.
Father’s Day Gift Experiences
Buying a gift experience for Father’s Day will always be well received. Gift experiences offer a huge range of options from adrenaline fuelled driving days to relaxing days out and afternoon tea! The gift experience that you will buy this Father’s Day should be personal to your loved one so really give some thought to what is important to them and that will resonate with them as a gift.
Buyagift Treat Him Gift Experiences Box – 1,820 Gift Experiences For Men
If you know a gift experience will go down well this Father’s Day but you are really stuck for exactly which one to go for, the Treat Him gift experience box from Buyagift is a great choice. It offers 1,820 options including everything from zorbing, sailing and driving days to lunch, days out and male grooming experiences.
Buyagift Driving Blasts Gift Experiences Box – 240 Driving Days
Having been on a supercar driving day a few years back I can personally vouch for a driving experience being a fantastic gift experience to buy this Father’s Day. The Buyagift Driving Blasts gift box gives the choice of 240 different driving days including everything from supercar driving to off roading and quad biking.
Father’s Day Alcohol Gifts
Alcohol gifts are a really safe option for getting things right on Father’s Day and there are so many options from whisky to beers. My personal choice is that if you are going to buy a spirit or whisky this year avoid buying a single bottle and opt for something that is boxed to ensure it is that extra bit special and screams gift as opposed to quick supermarket purchase. The same applies for beer gifts where you should opt for something more gifting focused. Here are my top choices this year.
Arran Whisky Tasting Set
A whisky gift is a great Father’s Day option and one of my favourites this year is the 5x 30ml whisky set from Arran, an island on the west coast of Scotland. A selection of whisky tasters in a box is a really strong gift and this set offers malt whisky with vanilla, fruit and peaty tastes.
Beer Hawk British Beer Case
Now I’m a real craft beer lover and so I may be a bit biased when I say that a craft beer case would be a great choice for Father’s Day. The Beer Hawk beer case offers a selection of 15 craft beers including pale ale, wheat beer, amber ale, lager and IPA. It’s a great selection and a great introduction to craft beer from British breweries. We recently ordered from Beer Hawk, read about what we thought in our Beer Hawk review here.
So there you have it, my list of top picks for Father’s Day! Father’s Day isn’t about the size or expense of the gift you buy so be sure to remember that this year. Buy something that you can afford and will be well received and really ensure that you loved one know what they mean to you and your family.
